Hydration and waste management for a Well Functioning Body

Your body is comprised of roughly 70% water. Maintaining homeostasis is principal to a well-functioning human body. Analogous to an engine without oil, your body must be supplied water to operate. It is irrefutable; if you desire a healthy functioning body - Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate! Benefits of a well hydrated body can be observed through many manifestations.

Hydration for a well functioning body

When your body is properly hydrated you can experience several benefits both internal and external:
  • Improved skin complexion
  • Improved cognitive acuity
  • Improved physical performance
  • Improved disposition
  • Improved waste movement
  • Slimmer abdominal physique
  • Reduced hunger

Waste Management

Many articles have been composed describing the value of waste management. Achieving the benefits requires observation within two specific questions:

  • How often do you defecate?
  • What is its consistency?

For our purposes today we will focus on frequency. On average, a well hydrated and well-nourished human should defecate roughly 3 times per day. I recommend using your daily hydration requirement to satisfy your daily defecation requirement.

The Flush

(Pun intended) I recommend performing this task upon waking in the morning, however the following practice can be performed anytime throughout the day. Flushing is a practice whereby you supply a volume of water to your digestive system, engendering defecation. The following is an example:

  1. Wake up in the morning
  2. Drink a few glasses of water while doing something productive
    • Result: approximately 1 - 2 trip(s) to the restroom
  3. Drink one cup of coffee
    • Result: approximately 1 trip to the restroom
  4. Breakfast!
