For generations Yoga has proven to deliver physical, mental and spiritual value to its students. Developed sometime within the fifth and sixth century, Yoga’s etymology is full of history. From improved flexibility and circulation to reduced stress and harmony, Yoga is a panacea practice delivering copious benefits that empowers the entire human body. A study published within the Journal of Clinical Oncology discovered patients who practiced Yoga regularly were able to reduce body inflammation by 10 – 15%. A recent study from Boston Medical Center examined more than 300 patients with chronic lower back pain. One group of participants engaged yoga classes designed for back pain while the other group engaged physical therapy classes. Researchers discovered that yoga was analogous to physical therapy for the treatment of back pain while also improving the participant's physical function. Most notable however is the reduction of pain medication within the yoga group.
